News from NSR;

Ford 3L P68
Gulf Edition
Ref; NSR0016SW
Retail £69.95
Available now

The forthcoming Ford 3L P68 NSR0016SW will not now be a fictitious Benetton livery but another fictitious Gulf livery. OK I can hear the groans already "oh no not another Gulf car" and "haven't they already done that before?" But let's be honest Gulf sells and yes they have done one of these before but it was a while ago and has long been sold out.

Take a look at the pics the car just looks so right in this tribute livery, just like the recently released MkIV Ford does in the Rothmans style. The Gulf P68 should be with us by the end of August.

First up is a Lancia LC2 due in November. The model SICA21f due in November is a non-works entry that raced at Le Mans in 1990, I think red suits this car! Due in December is SICA33a the first non-limited edition version of the Audi R8. This car in the hands of Audi stalwarts McNish and Capello won the little heard of Race of a 1000 years, held a the Adelaide Street circuit on New Years Eve 1999. How cool would that have been, to see in the new millennium? Finally we have coming in Jan 2017 an Audi R18 Ultra as raced at Le Mans in 2012. This model is slightly different to previous releases sharing the chassis of CA24 and CA29 but a different body which is a short tail version of CA29. This car, SICA38a will be rear wheel drive only.

NSR Corvette C7R

Our colleagues in Italy have just posted the first pictures of the production model of NSR's new Corvette C7R on Italiaslot.com

First look at the injection moulded body seems to confirm that the NSR C7R was modelled as one of the pre 2014 cars. (no diff cooling ducts on top of the rear wheelarches)
General body lines and shape seem to be well captured.

There's one area where they seem to have taken some short cuts. The grille behind the fornt wheel arch and the lower part of the front wheel arch are a bit over simplified.

But these are minor details, even in plain white plastic there's no mistaking this guy for anything else but America's favorite bad boy wink.gif

Nice detail at the rear as well, the oil cooling fan now an integrated part of the body (C6R had this part on the chassis)

On the technical side, no real surprizes here, just the basic triangular pod and drop arm, if it aint broke...dont fix it.
Although the C7R chassis does have one novelty, well for NSR that is.
As has become the trend with most performance brands, NSR now also has extra body supports that allow you to regulate the body ride height with grub screws.

But instead of adding extra support tabs in the body NSR have intergrated these with the front and rear detail parts.

No information yet on when the C7R will be availble.

Slot Magazine News; New Editor

Slot magazine welcomes new Editor: Motorsport writer Nick Garton

We have a new Editor here at Slot magazine who brings both Slot and full size motorsport knowledge... here's a bit about him:

Nick received his first Scalextric set at the age of four and discovered the joys of Exin Porsches on family holidays in Spain. He was a member of the Oxford Scalextric Club in 2002-2004 and has been a member of the Farnham Scalextric Club since 2010.

Nick’s slot racing preferences are for stage rallying, NASCAR, Slot.It Group Cs and scratchbuilt historics. He has competed in open historic events, Slot Rally GB and the German national series for 1/24 digital weaponry.

For a day job he is an automotive, aviation and motor sport writer, journalist and PR man, who has worked in every major series on two wheels and four over the past 20 years except NASCAR and Indycar.

Although he has spent more time in F1 than any other series, his preferences are for long distance events – be they rallies or sports cars, although having started out with the British Touring Car Championship in 1996-99 he retains a soft spot for tin tops.

Nick maintains the Scarf & Goggles blog with stories from land, sea and air in the pioneering days of the 20th Century and has been a moderator and contributor to Slotforum.com for more than a decade.

With two teenage daughters who have proven to be a dab hand at slot racing and a four-year-old son who has become obsessed by the Disney ‘Cars’ range from Carrera Go!!!, it seems like the household will echo to the whirl of electric motors for some time to come.

Nick goes by the name Driver 8 on slotforum.

But as the car is modelled according to the 2016 version of the car....you can bet the base color will be ...yellow

News from Slot.it

Sauber-Mercedes C9 - n.62 Le Mans 1987
Drivers: C.Ganassi, J.Dumfries, M.Thackwell
Code: CA06h
With new chassis CS05t-60b
Official selling date: November the 18th

The Sauber Mercedes C9 was a Group C race car, built by Sauber in partnership with Mercedes-Benz.
Chassis was mainly an aluminium monocoque, with magnesium elements and carbon-fibre skins. It had double wishbone suspensions, with direct-action at front and rocker-arm at rear, as well as Speedline magnesium rims, 17” front and 19” rear, and Brembo cast-iron 14” disc brakes.

In 1988, the car was powered the 'M117' engine, a twin turbo, 5 litres, V8, with semi-stressed function, which used the 500SL passenger car crankcase. The two valves per cylinder were controlled by a single over head camshaft, with chain drive. In qualifying specifications, the boost pressure was 1.2 bar, and power was 800 bhp at 7000 rpm. Torque had a very flat band from 3000 to 8000 rpm, which gave the Sauber C9 a great advantage in exiting corners. Overall weight was 865 kg.

This second Kouros Racing Team car raced at Le Mans in 1987. It was driven by Johnny Dumfries, Chip Ganassi and Mike Thackwell.
